This year I feel as though I have grown a lot as an artist. First of all, I have learned how to use new media and grown in others. I had really never used nice chalk pastels before, but after my cloudscape I feel as though I could use them to do many other things. I have also learned many new paint things. I still don't know if I prefer Tempra or Acrylic, but I have learned how to control is better, and how to get different textures by making different mark, as well as how to get better colors and blend and highlight.
One of the pieces I'm most proud of this year, is my still life watercolor of a dragon fruit. It isn't the most exciting piece, it's pretty standard with set up and media. But I feel as though I put a lot of work into it, and I really like the outcome, it looks very realistic and well done, I really focused on highlights and Shadows. It was also tough to achieve the bright reds with water color.
The other piece I'm very proud of is my self portrait with another image projected on me. I really like it because, like my dragon fruit, I feel as though I captured the forms of my face very well, and you can easily tell it is me. and I also focused on making it realistic as possible again.
